Eporedorix the Aeduan, a young man of the highest rank and of very great power at home, and with him Viridomarus, of equal age and influence but of unequal birth, whom Caesar, after he had been handed over to him by Diviciacus, had raised from a humble position to the highest rank, had come among the cavalry, summoned by him by name.

Note. summae domī potentiae: genitive of description, 'of the greatest power at home'; domī is locative. pārī aetāte et grātiā: ablatives of description.

7.39.2Hīs erat inter sē dē prīncipātū contentiō, et in illā magistrātuum contrōversiā alter prō Convictolitāvī, alter prō Cotō summīs opibus pugnāverant.

These two had a rivalry with each other for the first place, and in that dispute over the magistracy they had fought with all their might, one for Convictolitavis, the other for Cotus.

7.39.3Ex eīs Eporēdorīx cognitō Litaviccī cōnsiliō mediā ferē nocte rem ad Caesarem dēfert;

Of these, Eporedorix, on learning Litaviccus's plan, reports the matter to Caesar at about midnight;

7.39.3ōrat nē patiātur cīvitātem prāvīs adulēscentium cōnsiliīs ab amīcitiā populī Rōmānī dēficere;

he begs him not to allow the state to fall away from the friendship of the Roman people through the bad counsels of young men;

7.39.3quod futūrum prōvideat, sī sē tot hominum mīlia cum hostibus coniūnxerint, quōrum salūtem neque propinquī neglegere, neque cīvitās levī mōmentō aestimāre posset.

this, he foresees, will happen if so many thousands of men join themselves to the enemy, whose safety neither their kinsmen could neglect nor the state treat as a matter of slight weight.

Note. quod futūrum prōvideat: still indirect speech after ōrat, 'which he foresees will happen'; futūrum (esse) is the future infinitive. levī mōmentō aestimāre: 'regard as a matter of slight weight'.
